Caraway is a biennial herbaceous plant in the family Apiaceae with a large habitat that includes almost all the Europe and Asia. It has been known since the Neolitic Age. Seeds are used for spicing both in whole and ground form.

Uses:
- Culinary: Nowadays, caraway is a typical baking spice that is added to bakery and crackers. Besides, it may used for seasoning boiled potatoes and sauerkraut, added to fried pork, goose or duck, boiled fish and crayfish, borscht and goulash, beer and kvass. As a spice, caraway seeds may be also used in ground form, but it is better to grind the seeds right before eating, when the dish has already been served, as the fragrant essence evaporates easily.
